BEYOND THE WALLS
"...one of the most direct ways of praying and meditating is through singing, and singing in community is exceptionally powerful. You get people together in a room and get them singing, and you instantly knock down all the walls, the creeds, the gender, age and race differences, everything. You're all one at that point, lifting your voices."
Bobby McFerrin

- About these Groups . . . .

Show Choir
This marks the 17th year for this group. You must be in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, and you must audition, but once you're in. . . the places you will go!

The Show Choir presents two shows annually, one for the holiday season in December and one for the spring season. The group performed at Six Flags under the Carousel for six years and SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas in San Antonio presenting shows with wide ranging and entertaining themes: Rock & Roll, Blues, Jazz, Texas History, and Show Tunes.

In 2012 with the formation of an active and supportive Choir Boosters Association, the Show Choir traveled to Memphis and Nashville on their 2012 Bluegrass Tour "Texas to Tennessee".  The group combined with the Middle School Honor Choir and performed at Graceland, the Rymen Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and at Larry's Grand Ole Garage LiveStream. See photos of the trip and updates on our supporters and experience in Tennessee on the Wortham Choir Boosters Link Above.

The 2013-2014 school year brought us to Branson where the combined efforts of the Show Choir and Middle School Choirs joined with the kids of the Hughes Family Theater to perform. Please click

This group is always looking for supporters for travel and functions. Let us know if you would like to sponsor a student for membership or would like to accompany us.

Middle School Honor Choirs
Look for the fast growing Middle School and Jr. High School of Wortham Choirs on their own page above.
Expanding the age level of competing and extracurricular the administration of WorthamISD supported the groups efforts to be involved in Region UIL events and State Honor Choir events in 2011-2012, and represented a third of the membership of the formed UIL Non-Varsity High School choir in 2014.

A rare Middle School Choir program in Central Texas, its members work through the required TEKS in their grade level learning theory, sight-singing, part reading, solo and ensemble repertoire, and choral arrangements.

Wortham has successful entered its group members in the TMEA Region choir auditions in the past two years. Members participate in the Texas Federation of Music Clubs Solo & Ensemble Jr. Festival annually as District and State Winners.
